Moondance is an astrophotography planning app by Sidestep Studio. This policy describes what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Information We Collect
The app collects minimal data required for operation:
- Location data: When you enable GPS, the app determines your observation site and local timezone. This data is used entirely on your device for astronomical calculations and is never transmitted to any server.
- App preferences: Your location, target selections, and observation settings are saved on your device using standard iOS storage so they persist between sessions.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect personal information, names, or email addresses. There are no analytics, tracking services, cookies, advertising identifiers, or crash reporters integrated into the app. All calculations run locally on your device.
Bug Reports
The optional bug report feature opens your email client and pre-fills a message with basic device information (model, iOS version, app version) and your current app settings. This information is sent directly from your own email account — we receive only what you choose to send.
Third-Party Services
No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are integrated. Wikipedia article previews are fetched directly from the Wikipedia API in response to your explicit tap — no identifying information is sent.
Data Storage
All app data is stored locally on your device only. No user data resides on external servers operated by Sidestep Studio.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 and requires no account creation.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
